I came across this post on a wonderful blog that I often read called Dallas Wedding Planner. These 12 tips will take you from "puzzled" to "productive" in just a snap.
1. If you love to party, it’s the perfect excuse to plan one more party – an engagement party.
2. Set a budget for your big day.
3. Start making your guest list with addresses.
4. Pick a month that you are interested in getting married.
5. Begin looking for your ceremony and reception venue. Based on what you find and like and the dates they have open in your chosen month, select your specific date and book your venues.
6. Even if you are going to do a large part of the planning yourself, hire a wedding planner/consultant at this point once your date is secure even if the planner is for day of/month of services. They can provide focus and give you strategies to help with the many decisions ahead of you until your wedding day.
7. Decide on your wedding colors/wedding theme.
8. Finalize your guest list. Your wedding budget depends on firm guest list numbers.
9. Begin searching for your wedding professionals.
10. Start shopping for your wedding dress.
11. Ask your friends/family members to be your wedding attendants.
12. Select some cute fun save the date cards.
